I bought It during a sale, otherwise I'd never bought It I think because of the price. Also because my Sodastream Crystal already broke after using It 3 times. So that weigh in to as well.
They are quite expensive and It doesn't come with a CO2 canister included.

But, the design is original and works well within many design oriented kitchens I'm sure. We chose the copper one. In real life It's a bit more pink than in the photos, but my wife liked It, so It stayed. It's well built. Too bad they don't make more matte effect style ones, because I find these way too shiny. It gives It a bit more cheap look, because It looks so much like those fake plastic copper styles.

Then the functional part. It's far from user-friendly The Sodastream was much more easy to use. Just put It in the container, close It, press the button. Smooth, never an issue. Other than the terrible plastic build quality which made It break down after 3 uses.

This Aarke uses a screw mechanism that Is quite hard to secure. It's very easy to twist the bottle on crooked / skewed. It's just not a very intuitive way to do this. Also, their odd size and screw pattern means you can only use "special" Aarke bottles only. Which wouldn't be so bad If It also meant a unique and better way to use It, but It doesn't. It hurts the product. Also the bottles are plastic and can't go in the dishwasher, where the Sodastream Crystal had glass bottles. The handle to carbonate also has nothing user friendly or a way to get a bit more controlled way to get the right amount of bubbles.

We don't use It often. It's mostly to have bubble water in the rare cases we need It to save buying plastic bottles or using half bottles and then having to throw them away. It's mostly for cocktails anyway. So the design then weighs in quite heavily as well, next to the environmental reasoning.

So, we are keeping It. We'll see about the durability of both the plastic bottles and the Carbonator. It all looks solid. Just in terms of usability It leaves a lot to be desired.

Style over substance -UPDATE

After owning soda streams for 20+ years, I wanted so much to like it
However after only 4 bottles, the gas started to escape when carbonating. I dismantled the machine and checked the o ring that provides the seal on top of the canister. It was already enlarged and deformed. I tried to post a photo side by side with the spare one in the base of the machine. To me, it does not even appear to be a food grade ring. I ordered some food grade rings and see how it performs
Also, the casing shows dents and knocks very easily. Is a thin metallic veneer over a plastic base so handle very gently

On the plus side, the carbonating nozzle of this machine is steel, so probably easier to clean ghss ad n the soda stream.

UPDATE- two months later
There is something not right in the design of the machine (from the functionality point of view, otherwise very pretty): the gas steadily leaks from the bottle. I had put it in a house where i ho only occasionally. Twice i found that the new cylinder leaked out empty while i was away, as other reviewers have found.
Retuned, sadly.

I wanted to wait for a few months to see how this really was. It has dramatically reduced our recycling / use of plastic / glass for sparkling water. We do drink a lot if sparkling water…… The fizz level took a couple of go’s to perfect although it was very very simple. The water needs to be very cold for best results and with two or three pumps of the handle for maximum fizz. We couldn’t do without it now. The gas lasts a good couple of months and that is with daily use. The refill service could be more user friendly for the gas that’s the only down side.

I bought the stainless version first as a gift. It's thin metal sheet on plastic molding. It's very light even though what you see is all metal. Looks good, but feels cheap. I think that since it's stainless steel, even though it's thin, it should stay nice.
But when I saw the copper version IRL, I was disapointed. It is mentioned in the description that the copper color is actualy a clear coat on top of the stainless steel. Which brings the "feels cheap" to another level. For that amount of money I expect more, and I'm afraid that the finish will chip and peel off in a short time.

If you like your water really fizzy, this is not for you. Pleasant enough bubbles but very soft. Not much of a kick. Well made and attractive to look at but if I had tasted before I brought.. it’s unlikely that I would have picked this one.

Ich habe mir den Carbonator in kupfer als kleines Schmuckstück für meine neue Küche gekauft. Beim Auspacken kam dann die Enttäuschung. Das Material wirkt sehr billig, die Farbe ist eher rosa anstatt kupfer, der Carbonator hatte keinen geraden Boden und wackelt stark, beim Sprudeln blieb das Summen aus, welches eigentlich kommen sollte. Und dann der absolute Supergau: für den Rückversand musste ich auch noch € 19,50 bezahlen! Bin total verärgert.

Produkt schaut auf den Verkaufsfotos sehr Qualitativ hochwertig aus, als ich das Paket voller Freude geöffnet habe ist mir die Freude vergangen. Sieht billig gemacht aus und fühlt sich aus so an. Als ich das Paket dann retournieren wollte musste ich auch noch das Porto retour selbst übernehmen.
Hält absolut nicht was es verspricht!

Molto bello esteticamente. Ha solo il <piccolo> difetto che non aggancia bene la bombola soda stream. Dopo numerosi tentativi andati a vuoto finalmente si è avvitata. Ho riprovato e di nuovo non sono riuscito. Allora ho preso quella di riserva: stesso problema. Naturalmente entrambe si avvitavano senza problemi alla macchina originale. Non so se sono stato particolarmente sfortunato io, però il problema era davvero insormontabile a meno di investire interi quarti d’ora nel tentativo di far avvitare la bombola. Restituito e non voglio incappare nello stesso rischio con un sostituto. Peccato.
