Since I finished this book I didn't touch a cigarette, but didn't need to avoid parties, social situations or any other things.jusy brilliant, and the best is that the power is not in the book, is within yourself.

I read this book over two evenings, chain smoked whilst reading it (about 30 cigarettes) and had no belief it would actually work.
It's a tedious read, it's patronising and repetitive (literally), but who cares when it is brilliantly effective.
It sort of re-wires your thought process on cigarettes. It has now been 4 months, and easy months at that. I haven't had cravings, I don't have twangs, I go on heavy drinking nights and don't even crave one with my beer (which used to come hand in hand). I still go to the smoking area with my friends, and I don't feel I need to distance myself.
My only advice is take it seriously, read every condescending sentence, and if it doesn't quite read right, read that extract until it does. Don't skip the repetitive sections, they are there for a reason. Stick with it and good luck with quitting.

I smoked Roll ups without the filter and would say I was a medium to heavy smoker.
I also smoke other stuff and with that I never thought I would be able to stop smoking tobacco all together.
I read the book first time round, but I’m not sure I took the book and it’s contents in properly - I’m putting that down to my poor attention span and my desire to stop smoking as quickly as possible.
I continued smoking for a year after I failed the first time. I also hid from my family that I had started smoking again.
June 2018 I picked the book back up and read each page, with great attention and absorbed each word on each page.
I was coming to the end of the book, I had 60 pages left and had run out of tobacco. Instead of going to buy more - I had realised I was already a non smoker and didn’t bother buying more (despite the book telling me to smoke to the end)
However, I finished those 60 pages and at the end pledged I’d never touch a cigarette again.
I haven’t. I’ve been smoke free since July 2018 and could never be more happy or proud of myself.
The book flipped my perception on smoking and now I cannot believe I smoked those dirty, stinking roll ups for nearly 20 years. Whenever i see a smoker I am grossed out, whenever I smell it I find it disgusting. This book does something to your brain and it is by far the best way to stop.
There is one caveat - you need to want to stop smoking - or at least have considered it to take embrace the approach from Allen.
The book is cheaper than a packet of cigs and what do you have to lose?

For me the book gave me new ideas and a new way of looking at quitting, I did particularly like the idea of not calling it "giving up" because you are not giving something up, you are freeing yourself of addiction. When I had my cravings that idea and a few other points he makes were helpful in resisting them so it's not completely useless by any means, just not as easy as it claims, for me at least. Try it, because you don't have anything to lose, if it doesn't work you are no worse of than before but I would suggest having some willpower on standby.

The reason I say approach with care is that I DO NOT feel like me anymore. I miss something, and I feel a profound and constant sadness that I know will never go away. Looking back, I think I was happier when I still smoked my meagre 3 or 4 a day and was prepared to risk the consequences.
Yes, this book made me stop, but I now live like an ex-alcoholic, i.e. avoiding emotion and feeling dead behind the eyes as a result. I am scared to feel anything, but when something does upset me, the tears never stop.
Thank you, Allen, for saving my life yet ruining it in the process.
