To summarize, the bits did not conform to the usually impeccable Bosch quality: some bits had not been sharpened correctly, and certainly they had not been inspected for conformance to acceptable quality standards.
I returned the bits for a refund.

So, in practice, was this set worth buying? You bet it was! These last few days I’ve been working away like a busy bee in my garage/workshop/man cave. My first job was to build a small engineering work bench, to fit alongside my large woodworking bench (hand-built by myself). I’ve also been mounting additional magnetic strips on the garage walls (great for organising and holding hand tools). In addition, I’ve been mounting steel brackets on the walls to hold all the various lengths and sizes of timber I’ve accumulated over the years. All these tasks have had me reaching for a bit out of my Bosch box, and each time I was able to get my hands on the appropriate one for the job. Oh, and each bit, whether it was a wood, masonry, metal, spade or screwdriver bit, performed admirably. So, I’m very pleased that I invested in this box of tricks from Bosch, and accordingly I have no reservations about recommending this drill bit set to fellow Amazon customers. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Grey drill bits = masonry and plasterboard
Gold drill bits = metal
Black drill bits = wood
I also took the opportunity to add some highlight colours to the drill bit sizes to match the RAWL plug colour
Yellow plug = 5mm drill
Red plug = 6mm drill
Brown plug = 7mm drill
Blue plug = 10mm drill
A great kit with loads of bits and pieces to help with any task at a good price too.

On arrival, it has a nice storage box, albeit a little bigger than perhaps needed. Could be made more compact. But a nice selection of drill bits that I thought would last me a while. The stand up section in the box for the drill bits I thought was a nice touch that makes access easier.
First off I used the masonry bits to drill drainage holes in some terracotta pots. That seemed to go OK. Job done!
Then for the main reason I bought this - to use the metal drill bits to drill out a couple of small screws that had gotten stripped.
First one drilled out fine. But came to do the second, and the (same) drill bit snapped before it had barely got going!
Luckily size wasn't critical, so I switched to the next size up drill bit and finished the job.
But to be 1 drill bit down already, is a little disappointing to say the least.
The claim ... "The titanium coating prevents friction and protects the steel against wear which increases the lifetime." ... seems a tad irrelevant if the bit just snaps after just a couple of minutes use.
I don't do much drilling at all, so I've no idea what I should reasonably expect (or perhaps it's my drilling technique), but if this is the norm for a well known brand, then the fancy storage box is going to be a little pointless - just having 1 of each size is not going to be any use!
If this really is the norm, I wouldn't dare start any substantial job without at least 3 or 4 spare drill bits each, for each of the sizes I think I'll need.

A bit like some screws will drive more easily into a workpiece, drill bits can be the same, and although it is hard to get specific about why these bits would be any better than any other, I find working with them is actually overall just a bit less hassle. I could try to theorise about why, but what's the point? They're just easier to use, and this basic set is fine for general DIY, covering most of the situations a typical house and garden will throw at you. It not only has screwdriver bits and drill bits (for masonry, wood and metals, 5 or 6 of each), but the more common socket spanner sizes too. My only gripe is the means of holding the bits in place by the use of small rubbery inserts through which the shanks of the bits are pushed - it could be easier, but I guess that Bosch thought that this approach would be more durable than small plastic clips that would become brittle with age.
What I would emphasise is that if possible you check the contents quite carefully (they're listed in the product description for the item). There are more comprehensive kits above this most basic one that may suit your needs better if you do a lot of work rather than the occasional fix-up of something. For the price, getting more of the commonly-used bits has seldom been easier. After all, it's the most used stuff that suffers the most! I'd never really twigged the idea that drill bits could just get old and less effective even when they still look superficially okay, and getting a new set really woke me up to that fact. I needed more screwdriver bits and drill bits so, for me, this was an obvious choice.
