A pleasant series with a thoughtful heroine, loving husband and a chief inspector. Both men are handsome, both men are under Monica's spell .

Monica herself is prone to solving murders via observations and deductions.
Each title. Is an interesting read. My favourite was the third title which saw the daughter develop a little and have a key role for once.

Gentle cosy tales of murder, greed, jealousy, lies wrapped up with the strength of goodness. Definitely a case of the wrapping being the bit to keep!!

I really enjoyed these books. The characters drew me in and I am sorry to have finished reading about the exciting sometimes scary episodes in their lives. From Monica, her husband Rev Graham Noble to Detective Chief Inspector Dury and Monica’s teenage rebellious daughter they all come alive. The cases (?) in the three books kept me guessing as to who the murderer was. There were clues but very subtle, I loved trying to figure it out. If there are more Monica Noble stories to tell , I will be in the queue to read them.

This is a review of all 3 books which were excellent. The characters of Graham Noble, Monica Noble and Carol-Ann Clancy are lovely and brilliantly drawn. Jason the chief inspector and Sgt Flora (only in books 2 and 3) are also extremely well done and I loved Flora's secret passion for Jason. The plotting is excellent and all 3 are page turners. My one criticism is that there are just too many characters in each book to easily keep track of them. Carol-Ann, Monica's daughter from her first marriage, is a pure delight and her antics in the second book are comedic. She needs a book all to herself.

I have read two of these Monica Noble books now. They had me screaming at my Kindle because there were so many annoying grammatical mistakes e.g. "they were sat at the table" instead of "they were sitting at the table". But the plots were reasonably ingenious and the English country settings quite at odds with the skullduggery lurking just beneath the surface. If you're not fussy about the misuse or abuse of the English language and like non-sensational but twisty whodunnits, these books are for you. But if you prefer well-written books that can be classed as literature then avoid them like the plague.

Finding myself in need of a new author, I decided to try “The Complete Monica Noble box set: Books 1-3". However, despite Faith Martin’s decent vocabulary her prose in unrelentingly dull and, had it not been for references to mobile phones, I could easily have thought it had been written as an homage to the pedestrian crime novels of the 1950’s.

It is after the murder has been committed and the arrival of the local police that it begins to feel very dated. The detective has to spell out all his actions as though his sergeant has received no training and/or the readership are equally clueless having never watched a single television cop show. Our DCI notes that it is a shame the guests have inevitably been discussing the preceding events, yet he questions them as a group thereby giving the culprit the opportunity to ensure his or her story does not contradict what has been said by the others. By this point I decided I could not bear to continue this inane tale and abandoned it about half way through book one. Sorry not for me.

I absolutely over this set and was gutted when I got to the end and realised there are only 4 books in the Monica Noble series.

The books are addictive, well written, and an easy read. The characters throughout are likeable and certain ones become favourites..

Loved how the story unfolded to a conclusion.

Thoroughly recommend for an easy reading, crime series

Sorry but these were not my cup of tea. The stories took a long time to get going by which time I was struggling to stay interested. There was quite a lot of repetition about the characters' looks across the three books which wasn't necessary and I felt the stories lacked flow. Easy to read but dull, especially the conversations for the first six chapters between the clergy in the third book.

As a big fan of the Hilary Green novels I wasn’t too sure these would be up to the same standard. However, what Faith has done here, is brought the Agatha Christie genre of novels bang up to date. Whilst Hilary and Monica couldn’t be more different to each other, they both share that determination and intuition that Faith seems so brilliantly able to write about.

True, they are very different types of novels, but I did enjoy the Monica Mysteries. They made a nice change from the more gritty stories I prefer but, whilst I would definitely read the next instalment, I’m looking forward to the return of the likes of Hilary Green and Nikki Galena!
