I think this book is fabulous! You can 'hear' Nancy in every word, the recipes are clear and well-researched and the results are good. So far, I've made the kitchen cleaner (excellent), the furniture polish (removed years of white watermarks and grime) and the toilet magic one is currently cooling. I hate cleaning, but this makes it a little more fun. And it's good to know you're not poisoning wildlife while you're at it. I'm looking forward to sunny days so I can test out the linen whitening on some vintage linens that have yellowed over the years. Well done Nancy, I can highly recommend your book. And, if any of you are on Instagram, I'd also recommend you follow Nancy. You can see the cleaning tips in action, plus baking and other lovely stuff

I follow Nancy on Instagram and was intrigued by some of her posts regarding "green" / eco cleaning etc. I try to do my bit for the environment but realised that really that was not as much as it could be. Everyone seemed to really like the book so sent away for it. My initial reaction was one of disappointment as it was smaller than I imagined and I thought it would have pictures, like a cookery book. Thought I would have a quick flick through it before returning. WOW how wrong was I? Its just astounding, everything that she has researched and tried and it all boils down really to a handful of readily accessed items. Her knowledge is amazing and her passion really comes through. Its down to earth in its delivery and I am about to send off for some of her "key" items and start my eco journey. I have already posted a similar comment on Instagram so Nancy is aware of my "revelation"

This is a brilliant book, a guide that even seasoned house carers can learn from. There are a few 'recipes' that don't work as well as I'd like (the silver cleaning is one but it's fun) and the kitchen and bathroom mix isn't quite hitting the spot.
This is a book that's long overdue. I wouldn't dream of using chemicals and bleach again. The gentler approach in these pages is much appreciated. Nicely written too.

Over the years I have read many, many Eco Friendly cleaning books they have been good but this Nancy Birtwhistle's book is in a class of its own. It is well laid out and easy to find exactly what particular issue you need help with, most of the items and equipment needed I already had in my kitchen cupboards. I have tried for many years to find an Eco friendly cleaner for my Jacuzzi bath or indeed any cleaner that really worked on it and have found one in this book using 'Nancy's Toilet Magic' recipie on page 194. There is also a 'Personal' section on how to make toiletries, care for hairbrushes, jewellery etc and also a section on 'How to Clean' which I am sure some readers would find really useful. Well worth the money and well done Nancy on this little gem of a book.

I'm so happy I now have this book on hand! I always thought of myself as a fairly competent adult who knew how to do the basics of keeping my home clean! Nancy's been able to write a book which helps me live a more eco-friendly life, and advises in a non-patronising way how to properly clean your home! There's tips and suggestions about things that haven't crossed my mind, or I'd have had no idea where to start to clean/fix them! I wish I'd had a book like this when I moved into my first flat!
