Fast but puncture protection less than predecessor

In terms of rolling resistance this tyre is great. They're faster and grippier than the stock Rubino tyres that came with my bike.

Puncture protection on the other hand was a big let down. On only my second ride I managed to get a flat from the tiniest bit of glass. Normally I'd ride around smashed glass but this was the only speck on the road so I didn't see it. It went straight through the tyre before I'd even realised what had happened.

I have bought two of these with the mistaken belief that investing a little more might have given me better speed and puncture protection. Within 5 weeks of use, the first one I got a hole in it (I was given a partial refund) but thought maybe I'd just been unlucky and I'd give them another go. Within 3 rides on the second one I developed another large hole. For some context I ride on well maintained roads in Central London. I've now bought a much cheaper one that has lasted longer with better performance.

GP5000 - Why tubeless tyres lose pressure

Ok, so after my last review about the Continental GP5000 tyres (punctured front within a mile), this morning I noticed that the front tyre was flat and the rear soft! I pumped them up again (tubeless tyres) and this time I put them into the dogs paddling pool. I have attached a video to show that they leak even with sealant in them!

Not sure why this should happen, but I often hear of people saying their tyres lose pressure after a couple of days.

My question is: Should a tubeless tyre be leaking so much through tiny holes when there is sealant in them??

Problema con los flancos

Exactamente como su predecesora, los flancos muy débiles, primera salida y rajada, y sobre los 2500 km en la la supuesta banda antipinchazo otra raja, eso sí agarre estupendo y seguridad, pero por 40€ es exagerado, si os pasa coger un trozo de otra cubierta y pegarlo por dentro con loctite así llevo como unos 3000km, al ser una persona de 62 kg está cubierta la tienes que tirar por aburrimiento ya que apenas se desgasta, las 4000 las cambie una por corte con cristal y la otra con unos 7000km por los flancos que se desacian no por desgaste👍

Ho acquistato questi copertoni per la prima volta nel gennaio di quest'anno, dopo una lunga esperienza passata con i GP4000 SII, e sono rimasto soddisfatto.
Con i precedenti facevo tranquillamente 10 mila km prima di cambiarli e le forature erano molto rare perciò le mie aspettative erano ben alte cambiandoli con il modello successivo e per certi versi i GP5000 sono riusciti a soddisfarle pienamente.
La mescola è dichiarata essere la stessa, ed anche il disegno cambia ben poco ma montandoli sulla bici si ha subito l'impressione che le vibrazioni siano inferiori e l'attenuazione sia aumentata e di molto.
La tenuta è ottima, anche sul bagnato, e pur essendo molto simile ai 4000 si ha subito la sensazione che sicurezza e stabilità siano migliorate molto, le ho provate anche in gara sul bagnato e non ho avuto la minima impressione di poter scivolare da un momento all'altro.
L'unica pecca, per contro, è la durata. Ho dovuto sostituirli perchè avendo forse una mescola più morbida che ne migliora la tenuta e la stabilità, si sono consumati fino sotto i buchi di riferimento dopo soli 6 mila km ed iniziavano ad intravedersi le tele sotto la gomma, in certi punti.
4 mila km di differenza non sono pochi e questo costa una stella nella mia recensione, ma va anche detto che sono i km in cui i GP4000 diventavano duri, quasi lucidi, ed erano meno affidabili.
Infine, la resistenza alle forature è praticamente la stessa forse è peggiorata la facilità di montaggio che con questi è diventata impossibile farla a mani nude, con i 4000 invece più di una volta ero riuscito a farlo senza le leve di smontaggio copertoni.

The worst tyre I have ever owned. So badly fitting that they took nearly an hour to install and seriously damaged my rims to remove after a puncture after less than a month. I have no issue with tight fit, use Gatorskins and Schwable Marathons and can fit both without tyre irons. But these foldables are utter crap. I've been riding many years and so have all of my friends, all who agreed when we were roadside trying to remove one last week. I've had GP4000 before and they were fine. These are just awful and I will never ever use them again. Don't bother unless you want to ruin your rims.....

Replaced some 23mm gatorskins with these 25mm clinchers. Just done a 50 mile hilly ride in dry to heavy rain conditions. Performed brilliantly, ride seemed smoother, felt less of the small rattles. No loss of grip in the wet and rolled along as well as the gatorskins. Bit pricey at the moment I'd say but I guess they will come down.

I like using continental tyres in the past but it's my first time using the GP5000. Read reviews. Thought it would give me what I wanted commuting to London and home again.... Received the tyres on December 28th. It's my third ride just totalling 64miles. By December 31st!!! The tyre is cut pretty bad and received an obvious puncture. I had pumped them up to 110psi and wondered if I had a 'pinch flat'... I cant believe this tyre cut so easily in its infant life! Not too impressed!

Very hard to get on

I'm sure these are great tyres once they are on, but they have a ridiculously tight wire which makes getting them on a nightmare. I have been riding for 20+ years, changed hundreds of tyres and these still took 30 minutes of swearing for me to get on and punctured a brand new inner tube and scraped my rim in the process. My rim is just a run of the mill Mavic Krysium which used to take the GP4000s fine so shouldn't be the issue here. I expected (and paid for!) more from Continental.

Bought to replace the standard ones on a decathlon racing bike. I know I'm not comparing like with like but according to my strava I'm consistently faster with these tyres with no extra effort. Cycle commuting the same route every day, all weathers, they do make a difference. No punctures yet, grip good too.
