I though Mandy was an awful snobby character. Although I was interested in the story I was disappointed with the couple falling into a sex scenes, why do author today feel they need to include a sex scene?

I’d give this book 3.5 stars. The premise was good. I really like Zane and his mom but holy crap, Mandy was annoying. She LOVED NYC, her ringtone was New York, New York ffs. *eyeroll*

On top of that she’s a moron, she didn’t even consider moving until Zane offered an explanation. She flew off the handle at little things and basically acted like a snob that whole book.

I might read more of this series at a later date but Mandy put me off starting immediately.

The story is good but I really could not stand Mandy. She is unlikable, immature, and doesn't have much insight into life or relationships. I also found the ending to be quite abrupt.

Modern day cowboys & a rapter rescue sounded like my kind of book. Unfortunately, the sex is all through the book which really destroyed this read. The cowboy is so enamoured with his childhood friend that the rapters are hardly talked about until the end of the book. Unlike discussing sex all over both houses. Too descriptive for me, evev though I did finish reading this nasty story.

Totally enjoyed this book by Vicki Lewis Thompson. Mandy Fielding has come back to Eagles Nest, Montana, after 10 years. She's set on convincing her mom to move back to New York with her after the family home is sold. On her way she has a flat and who stops to help her but Zane McGavin, her childhood friend. They were best buds growing up, and the old attraction soon makes it's presence known as Zane tries to convince Mandy not to take her mom away from Eagles Nest, that her mom loves and cherishes dearly, to New York. Mandy doesn't like the plan that Zane wants to buy the family home and turn it into a raptor rescue center. She also doesn't see that she's falling in love with Zane as they rediscover the enjoyment of riding the hills on horseback and watching the wildlife from their favorite lookout. Zane has loved Mandy forever and this visit has him reeling. He hopes that she'll come to her senses and that her mom will be able to stay in the town she loves so much. You get glimpses of why Mandy ran away those 10 long years (her dad left her and her mom) and you end up rooting for her to come to her senses and stay where home really is, with her mom and friends there in Eagles Nest. Let's just say that the couple does get their happy ever after and Mandy's mom gets to stay where she loves living. All in all a very good read that will leave you feeling happy.

A Cowboy's Strength is a phenomenal contemporary western romance by Vicki Lewis Thompson. Ms. Thompson has provided readers with a well-written book and populated it with an outstanding cast of characters. Zane works the family ranch and rehabilitates injured raptors. Mandy left town and returns to help her mother pack to move. But she wants her to move to NY instead of into a place in town. Zane and Mandy's story is fast-paced and full of drama, humor and sizzle. I loved reading this book and look forward to my next book by Vicki Lewis Thompson. A Cowboy's Strength is book 1 of The McGavin Brothers Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I started reading this series in the middle so decided I would go back to the first book. This is a love story with Zane and Mandy. They have been best friends since childhood. Mandy moved to New York ten years ago after her parents divorced. Mandy has come home for a visit to talk her mom into moving to New York with her. Zane is completely against this idea, especially after they kiss! Will Zane be able to convince his best friend to stay in Montana with him or will she run back to New York? All of the books in this series are excellent. They combine romance and laughter with great characters. I highly recommend this series.

I loved Zane and Mandy' s story. I thought it was very was sweet, steamy, and had a little drama thrown in for good measure. They had so much in common, that it didn't surprise me that they finally got together again. I liked the fact that they were friends since they were babies, it's just too bad that they lost touch after a misunderstanding so trivial, especially over something minor that neither of them can even remember the reasoning behind the 10 yr. feud. Surprisingly, the whole Rapter thing sort of sucked me in, too.

I also loved the women's club. I cracked up after they all left the hospital, and I didn't stop laughing until the next few chapters were done. Wow! Wouldn't it be great if we all had something like that?

Ihope there's more books coming to this series, because I want to know more about the other brothers, as well as, if Faith's dad and Deidre ever get together. I would also love to see Kendra and Jo get a knew love in their lives, but I don't want to get to greedy.
