I am a fitness class instructor (and bought this to save my back and neck when transporting stuff from car park to the gym) and was very pleased with the item. It certainly holds a good amount of weight and feels sturdy when I wheel it along - also goes round corners quite smoothly. Upon the platform I managed to fit my portable professional boomblaster (sideways on), half a dozen pairs of 1.5kg hand weights and a huge bag of CDS and a microphone - weight wise I could have got on a lot more - but would need a bit of shuffling to fit more on but I guess you could layer up a couple of boxes on top of one another whatever you're using it for.
The handle probably came up to about below my chest (I'm 5'8") so I was leaning over a bit but you need to lean over a bit to push a heavy load.
The only down side of this product is that there were no instructions! I initially thought they hadn't provided any nuts and bolts and also I could not lift the spring handle up properly and was worried I'd break it - so I trotted over to my handy neighbour who always sorts out my DIY woes and he said the big screws on the underside had to be undone with a special tool (??!!..can't remember what it was called) then screwed back on top. Maybe I'm just scatty but there were no instructions whatsover and I'm sure there will be other dizzy rascals out there that may end up bamboozled so I shall fill you in just in case!
1 - the two large fixed castors go on the BACK of the trolley (finally found this on small print on the front of the box but easily missed)
2 the two rotating casters (by process of elimination - oh aren't I clever ;o) ) go on the front.
3 to get the handle up fully (rather than 45 degrees) you have to put your foot quite firmly on the middle of the bottom spring horizontal white bit just above the platform
and hey presto it works!
Hope this review helps - I've been very chuffed with the item and highly recommend it. Certainly saves multiple trips to your dropping point, and prevents any pains and strains associated with lifting heavy items.
However, I wasn't happy with the quality of the delivered product. It was covered in scratches, dents and other marks, the wheels looked like they'd been used before. I arranged with Amazon to replace it, which they did in ultra quick time. I'm very impressed with Amazon's service, as usual.
The relevant trolley wasn't in much better condition though, again with scratches and marks on it. I really do expect new items to arrive in perfect condition. This appears to be down to Draper not packaging the item properly and not doing good quality control at the manufacturing stage. There's nothing to stop metal rubbing on metal which obviously causes scratches and the box the wheels came in was also crushed.
As for all the comments about having no instructions, this is true, but seriously, there are four wheels and four locations for them no go, unsurprisingly! The bolts are already in place. It's not rocket science to undo those bolts, place the wheels and fix the bolts back in again. The picture on the box shows the location of the swivel wheels. It really isn't that hard!
The construction of the trolley is good overall, I don't think it'd withstand heavy daily use but for my occasional, lightweight usage it's adequate. The handle could do with being longer though.
Folding and unfolding the handle is easy, just place your foot on the bar and raise or lower, it's easy, just watch the folding down though as the whole base of the trolley flips up pretty quickly and can trap your hand against the handle!
I can't really recommend it though, purely down to the poor packaging and the marks on brand new products.
My only criticism of this is the wheels - they are brutally solid plastic and unless you are pushing it over a surface made of smooth diamond, this is going to be bumpy and make a bigger racket than a badly put together rock band. I feel that had Draper taped the surface of the wheels with some rubber, it'd take away that issue.
It now sits neatly away on my balcony for if I ever need it again... Might help the pizza deliver man next time there's a party at mine...
Out of the box you'll need a spanner to attached the wheels which is around a ten minute job, once done you're ready to rock and roll, more roll than rock!
On a side note be sure to stack your boxes on the blue matting as this grips, the metal sides will simply make your load slip around which won't help anyone.
There aren't any usage instructions so when putting the handle up and down take not ethat applying ones foot to press the spring loaded bar downwards whilst lifting or pushing the handle is the way to operate it. Highly recommended.
Very tough and strong item carried concrete blocks over 100 kg without any problems - folds up very nicely for wall mounted storage - handle only folds forward over flat bed, would have given 5 stars if it had folded either way - loading in confined space onto the flatbed, after pushed through passageway had the problem of lifting the load over the handle at the far end of the passageway.
Minor quibble arising from my particular circumstances
Buy this with confidence - if you think it is expensive then look up to cost of a hernia truss and chiropractor treatment - no comparison
