From #1 bestselling author Brandon Sanderson and Janci Patterson comes the third of three Skyward series novellas, set after Cytonic.
With the government of Detritus in disarray because of Superiority treachery, and with Spensa still away on her mission in the Nowhere, Jorgen must work together with the alien Alanik to pick up the pieces. They intercept a strange transmission from the planet Evershore and its Kitsen inhabitants, who say they have some of Jorgen's people and want to return them-but can the Kitsen be trusted? And can Jorgen learn to master his increasingly erratic cytonic powers before they spiral out of control and destroy all hope of forming an alliance against the Superiority?

Evershore is the third in a soon-to-be-published (in May, I think?) collection of novellas set in the Skyward Universe. The first two could be read between Starlight and Cytonic, but this one absolutely has to be read after Cytonic. It's a nice insight into what Jorgen (Jerkface!) has been doing whilst Spensa has been off-planet.
I really love his character. He's grown so much from the total Jerk he was when he was appointed the title of Jerkface. He really epitomises what it means to undergo some serious character development, deliberately, rather than because of the volume of negative reviews about him. I suppose Spensa is not so dissimilar!
This still ties in to the second novella really nicely, but Cytonic even more so. It's not so much that there are spoilers for Cytonic, really, it's that there are links to events within it which have much more weight when you already saw where they fit in the wider story during Cytonic. My only complaint is that I'm not sure that Brandon Sanderson and his co-author necessarily align so wonderfully. I feel as though I can see which parts of the narrative in each novella have been his and which parts have not been - this can be a bit jarring when you're used to a particularly writing style or narrative tone.
Regardless, I can't wait for the collection of novellas to be published in one place, rather than as the standalone e-copies they currently are. And this sets up brilliantly for Defiant!

This book (3.1) is form Jorgen Weight's (Jerkface) perceptive. It takes place in the Sonewhere while Spensa is on her quest in the Nowhere. The is no so much crossover in this book to book 3.
From the events of end of book 2.2 Jorgen face a devastating loss, but had no time yo mourn or process his grief. He is too busy trying to say his people and follow the final orders given to him by both is commanding officer and his mother.
Now is a critical time for the people of Detritus, though they have created a shaky alliance with the people of ReDrawn (only through Skyward Fight seemingly going renegade), they have been decimated by the Superiority. Now they have a chance to make another one, but are they too beaten down?
In general it was great seeing far all the other members of Skyward Flight have developed. The novels mainly concentrated on Spensa with the others as side characters. The novellas gave done great job of developing all these side characters. Though this novella is my favorite.
Given the name Jerkface when Spensa first met him Jorgen is pretty much an unlikely hero. He comes from privilege, he is expected to succeed, he follows orders, does not rock the boat, and just does everything right. The kind of smug character you want to punch in the face, (Spensa did that in book one). Here his real story is told, living in the shadow of his parents, his insecurities and having to make the hard decisions when nobody else will. After reading this Cytonic (book three) I can't wait for Defiant (book four).
