Once again Faith has writtenan engrossing murder mystery that keeps you guessing right up to the end. Set in the 1960s it's completely different without DNA, mobile phones and computers, but relies on good old fashioned detective work. We follow the clues as well but Faith is such a clever writer I never seem to work it out before Clement and Trudy. Looking forward to the next one already. Highly recommend .

I enjoyed Faith Martin's Hilary series so was expecting to like this series too. Set in the sixties a young WPC joins forces with an elderly coroner and solves murders with him. This is a couple of books in but I won't bother again. It becomes more far fetched as the series goes on. I found it very unbelievable. They always solve the murder regardless of the police . Her relationship with her parents that she still lives with is 'too cosy" and keeps on about her working class roots she appears to have no friends or any social life not really surprising as she's a very one dimensional figure you don't feel you know her even this far into the series. The police are very tolerant of her dropping everything and haring round the country with the coroner. If you enjoy a murder mystery or police procedure don't bother with this if you just want cosy and about people you can't get emotionally involved with read it.

I like Faith Martin books and this one is no exception. Indeed, as I work my way through the Ryder and Loveday series, I enjoy them more and more.

Set in the early 1960's, the local May Queen is found murdered and tied to the maypole. Shortly afterwards, her boyfriend is found hanged in a barn. He was the son of Trudy's superintendent so there's a lot at stake. Was he murdered too or was it suicide?

Our unlikely "sleuths" investigate!

An excellent addition to my Kindle collection...... 🙂

Another page turning book from Faith. Opening with a girl bound with the ribbons of the May Pole while still attached to the pole. Then a young man has committed suicide. The clues are in the characters of the different people and it is not until the end that the real killer is discovered.
