After 1 week of printing I have not had one failure, not one issue of product detaching from the bed mid print, not one issue of the head being too close and making the printed item hard to remove. The auto bed alignment is a breeze, its just one button press and the machine does a 9 position bed alignment, then set whatever Z offset you require, I set it to 0.22 as a start as a complete guess it was just about perfect, I have not had to change that setting yet.
From the photos you can see I have printed many parts, the rocket was first (and came on the supplied SD card) then Sonic, some two part glands, and finally the T Rex, the parts were all printed in Geeetech PLA of various colours apart from the inner mouth parts that were printed in some old unbranded ABS I have had for around 6 years. The T Rex took about 20 hours to do all of the different parts and every print worked without any need to adjust anything between changing of materials apart from increasing the temps for the ABS.
I tested the loading and unloading of filament procedure, once button press to start the unload, one button press to start the load once the hotend was up to temperature. Simplicity itself!
I did pause the print twice during the ABS parts for the T-Rex as the old filament broke mid run, but I paused, moved the head, withdrew the parts left in the printer, re-loaded the the filament and continued with absolutely no problems whatsoever.
Advantages - very quick to build (6 screws) no adjustment needed on the bed, magnetic build plate makes parts so easy to remove. Auto levelling makes start up simple, even a novice can confidently start using the printer immediately. Really quiet in operation. I have also found that the estimated build time in my slicer software (Simplify 3D) is very close to what the Mizar S achieves. It estimated 6 hours 28 mins for a print, that took 6 hours 36 minutes, Usually the timings in the slicer cannot be matched by the printer.
Previously I have advised friends and family who are new to printing to purchase the A20 or A10, as I have an A20T and they are good printers but even with bltouch/3dtouch they take some time to understand and set up. My advice will now change.. anyone can print without having to learn so much about how they work and how to set them up, especially if they have a Geeetech Mizar S as their first printer. Great, Great product.. thank you! This is now my favourite 3D printer!
