Having read a few of the reviews that suggest these are flimsy I was on the fence as to whether or not to give them a go, but decided they can't be any worse than the plastic ones and bought one.
They arrived in good time, and were well packaged but I wasn't impressed with the large 27+ kilo box they arrived in, not because there was anything wrong with that, it was more that fact I'm an irritable old fart with a bad back, and i'd bought these to hold camping gear in an upstairs room.
So after the Mrs politely reminded me i'm an idiot and that I could always unpack it downstairs and carry the bits upstairs a few at a time, I did just that and then got to building them and I have to say they went together really quickly.
You will need a couple of tools to save time and effort, a rubber mallet, a set of long nose pliers, and a small screwdriver because as other reviews have suggested, you do need to bend some of the tabs slightly when assembling the main framework, and a lot more when putting in the shelving support struts.
I have to admit, even though the rest of the assembly went without a hitch, putting in the shelving support struts was a PITA, and were the direct cause of a few expletives to begin with, but do not be tempted to leave these out as they're pretty important and once you figure it out, fitting them is not so bad.
I included a few pictures with this review highlighting the shelf support struts, and how I personally made things easy for myself by using a set of pliers to put two bends on the end tabs, one small bend at the tip, and the other inline with the strut, as they have to fit through the small metal loops on the insides of the two main cross supports, and then be bent around on themselves to make sure they don't slip out of place. What I found awkward initially was when I did a single bend, they came in so tightly once through the metal loop, I could not get hold of them to pull through and bend around fully, but once I did that slight bend at the tip it allowed me to either grab the tab with the pliers immediately, or if not use a small screw driver to bend them up so I could.
Once assembled I personally think they're excellent value for money, they're a nice wide, deep set of shelves that although might not be as rigid as the way more expensive (way heavier) varieties, they're far from being flimsy as was suggested and they are currently supporting all our camping gear, some of which is quite weighty without a problem so I can honestly say I would definitely buy another set without hesitation.
