So, when you plumb it in-line you won’t really feel a temperature difference on the outlet back into the pool BUT, dont be disheartened by this as the water flows ever so briefly over a similar heating element to a kettle so not much time in contact with the heater element and water so only a very very very gradual temperature increase every time the water flows over it. Now....... once you’ve switched it on do not come back to the pool to check the temperature difference for at least 2 days, it will take at least that time to get a notificsble difference in water temperature. It took me 3-4 days of constant running to get 31 degrees Celsius. It’s also worth noting that if you are using one of those tiny little pool filters then this heater won’t work because it’ll end up overheating the heating element due to slow flow of water so definitely invest in the bigger index pump at the same time just like I did.
I’m sure a lot of you are wondering whether you can use this on an extension lead because realistically........ hardly anyone has an outside socket near to their pool location lol. This answer is YES! I am currently using 2 (13) amp rating extension leads joined together (MUST BE FULLY UNWOUND) with the pool heater and pump inline. Please bear in mind the cost to run the heater as I calculated it to be around £3.60 per 24 hours running. I only switch it on a few days before we are due good weather or whenever we will use it, so it’s pointless spending all that money to heat a pool that won’t be used.
Anyway I hope my review has helped you decide on buying! It’s definitely a must have as kids get way to cold too quickly without this heater. Hope you buy and have fun!
I've tried to return it as I don't think it's value for money but the company refused me. It burnt through my extension that I use power my tools
Pointless saying what I'm saying anyways just another disgruntled customer who is on the losing end of £80.
We don't have an outside socket, so disclaimer- I'm not suggesting anyone else does this, but we got a heavy duty 13amp extension cable and fully unwound it. I kept checking the heater plug and extension plug to make sure they didn't get hot - they didn't. I want to be clear that the instructions say it shouldn't be plugged into an extension cable. (All my other extensions are 10amp.)
When I first ran the heater the water coming out felt very cold, I just kept the cover on the pool and every few hours I went out and swished the water round with the pool net. The filter pump i used was the one that came with the bestway 10ft fast set pool. I made sure the filter was clean and the chemicals were all balanced before I ran the heater.
All in all, this heater does heat the pool, I was thinking it would only take the chill off but it was quite nice ambient temperature even during the wizard of Oz rain and wind we had!
It's not cheap to run, it cost about £10ish for 24 hours. Like I said I'll be running it for 48 next time we have pool weather, I don't think it will need to be on everyday in nicer weather, once the pools warm I'm hoping just to run it for a few hours in the morning but I obviously don't know that for sure . Let's be real, if you want a massive pool in the UK, and you want the kids to actually get in and enjoy it without getting blue lips, its going to cost money. We filled it with cold water from the outside tap because our kitchen tap won't fit an adapter for the hose but at least now I know I can get it warm. This was just a little set up test before the school holidays. If I encounter any problems I'll update.
Little update. In the rainy/windy weather this managed to get the pool to 32 degrees. It was a little pricey but I was expecting that and the kids got loads of use out of it.
The last few days the weather was really hot, I refilled the pool and put the heater on just while the kids were at school. It cost a few pounds and the pool temp was again at 24 degrees which was warm enough for hot weather without any wind.
I would recommend.
The heater does warm the pool up slowly. I have an 8ft intex pool and I left this on overnight and the next morning it was really warm/bath like temp. Overnight temp of 14-12c. Daytime temp 23c by 4pm the next day the pool was still at a good temp of 25-27c.
I have a drum extension cable and the first time I had the heater on for 4hrs the extension did overheat and after reading reviews I then unwound the cable and it was cool and safe to leave overnight without issue.
Left overnight this cost £4 to heat but was def worth it for the family to enjoy the next day!
Def recommend this otherwise the pool is too cold to enjoy.
