I work on my bike and i need to use it like 14 times a day. So far I've unlocked it more than 500 times without a problem.

The most thing i like about it is that it locks from both sides, so the Thief should cut it twice to open it.

It comes with a cable.

It's not heavy.

(-)Sometimes the key doesn't get in easily.

Update in march 2018:
still working good after more than 2000 lock and unlock.

Update in May 2018:
after more than 3000 use still working pretty good :)

Update in April 2021:
I don't use it much like before anymore, maybe 10 times a week, but still working properly :)

Good strong lock, slide fixing into the mount need reveiwing as it makes things difficult

Pros:
Very heavy and therefore presumably as strong and secure as it looks.
7/10 (70/100)/ Sold Secure Gold security level means it should be good at keeping you bike secure.
Mount prevents lock shaking and rattling when riding over bumpy surfaces, but overall design could be better (see cons).
Comes with a 1.2m steel cable (not security rated). Some people have commented that is too short but it seems to be a standard length for all locks that come with them I have seen. If you are trying to put both eyes onto the lock then it is too short (by a lock without a cable and a 2m cable), however if you thread one eye through the other around one wheel and pull it through it is just long enough to thread through the other wheel (necessary if both are quick release) and put the other end into the lock (see image) although a slightly longer 1.5m cable would make it a little easier.

Cons:
The following assumes that my bike is a typical size and shape for an adult medium hybrid…
This size lock is both too short and narrow to go around the frame a post and through a wheel, limiting me to securing around the top bar only.
Some locks have an insert and rotate (either lock or collar) 90 degree method of attaching the lock to the mount, this one slides in. Because of this the only place it would mount leaving just enough room to avoid the frame both after insertion and to remove it with my hand around the lock was the underside of the top bar (see images), even then there was barely enough room so it was just as well I did not get a bigger one.
This may be a pariticular issue with the size/shape of my frame, however I do suggest the manufacture look at a non sliding method of attaching the lock to the bike, if the lock was any bigger or the inside of the frame any smaller I would never have been able to mount it on the bike and I suspect that I may not be the only person to encounter this.

Okay, neues Rad, neues Schloss. Was sicheres für die Großstadt, wo man abends das Rad auch schon mal vor dem Kino oder am Club abstellen will.

Kryptonites Evolution Mini-7 macht viel richtig: massiver Stahl, doppelter Schließmechanismus, fettes Zylinderschloss und dazu gibt es 'nen 120 cm Flexschlauch, 3 Schlüssel und einen sogar beleuchtet. Ach ja, und eine Halterung, allerdings find ich die als eher nicht so glücklich. Das fängt bei der etwas seltsamen Anbringung an (einen Gurt? Echt?) und endet bei der eher klapperigen Performance eben dieser. Aber das ist noch nicht einmal mein Hauptproblem: die Halterung hat ihr Gegenstück am Bügel des Schlosses. Auf den Fotos ist das der metallfarbene Klotz am Bügel der direkt am Übergang zum Schloss selber sitzt. Schön dass das massive Stahlschloss nochmal mit einer Gummiwand ummantelt ist, dass man sich nicht das Rad zerkratzt. Aber etwas sinnlos, wenn man dann einen scharfkantigen Metallblock direkt an den Bügel bastelt, den man dann entsprechend immer um seinen Rahmen oder die Felgen fädeln muss. Da sind Lackschäden direkt vorprogrammiert, selbst wenn man Vorsicht walten lässt. Irgendwie ... nicht ganz durchdacht. ABER: man kann das Teil entfernen, wenn man die Halterung eh nicht nutzt.

Der Schließmechanismus ist etwas hakelig, aber nun ja ... dafür ist es eben auch ein richtiges Schloss und kein Schnapper. Sehr schön finde ich ja, dass man das Schlüsselloch verschließen kann, das hält Staub & Schmutz davon ab, in das Schloss zu gelangen. Der beleuchtete Schlüssel ist auch ganz praktisch, allerdings ist bei meinem entweder ein Wackler drin oder die Batterie bereits schwach, denn er leuchtet nur, wenn er wirklich Lust dazu hat.

Aber zurück zum positiven: das KFlex-Kabel ist eine super Dreingabe, so kann man an das starre Schloss, welches im besten Fall den Rahmen und das Hinterrad an einem Stück Stadt fixiert, noch Vorderrad, Sattel Helm oder was auch immer mit anbinden. Sehr fein.

Das Schloss ist mit knapp 1,5 kg Gewicht nicht ganz ohne, aber Sicherheit ist eben schwer. Wem, wie mir, die Halterung nicht zusagt, der kann das Schloss einfach in den Rucksack packen und gut. Klar schleppt man 1,5 kg Metall mit sich herum, allerdings will man ja, wenn man aus dem Kino, der Disco oder dem Sushi-Restaurant tritt, weiterhin ein Fahrrad besitzen ... so gesehen also, passt das schon.

FAZIT: massives, sicheres Schloss für die Stadt ... mit kleinen Makeln, die nicht so ganz ohne sind. Der größte Schwachpunkt ist wohl die Halterung (auf Schloss- wie auf Radseite), der etwas hakelige Schließmechanismus und die unzuverlässige Leuchte am Schlüssel.

Ich sag mal 3.5 Sterne für das Schloss, aber 4 weil der Flexschlauch dabei ist

Das Schloss ist recht schwer und sieht stabil aus. Für manche Radständer und mein (Damen)Rad ist es manchmal zu kurz. Das Seil ist immer zu kurz, ich verwende das 220 cm lange.

Von den 3 beiliegenden Schlüsseln lässt sich nur einer ohne Probleme verwenden. Ich hoffe, dass sich das mit einem Spray beheben lässt.

À propos Spray und Schlosspflege: In der in winziger Schrift verfassten Anleitung steht, dass dafür keinesfalls WD40 verwendet werden soll!

Die Halterung anzubringen, war mir zu kompliziert. Ich transportiere das Schloss im Korb auf dem Gepäckträger, das Seil (um Rahmen und Sattelstütze gewickelt) ist dann gleich mit gesichert.

Was mir wirklich missfällt: Der Metallteil, mit dem das Schloss in der Halterung fixiert werden soll. Er hat ziemlich scharfe Kanten, Kratzer am Rahmen sind wohl unvermeidlich.

The lock itself is very good and I feel
It’s enough for daylight runs with an e-scooter to a shop. That said the holder arrived broken for a start and the strap isn’t long enough to go around the stem of a scooter meaning it can’t be mounted. This requires carrying it in a backpack or having it lump around the stem on a ride.

Kriotonite need to get with the scooters and give us a strap long enough or better yet a more sturdy mount.

Quality control was definitely questionable on the mount. I haven’t had the lock stick yet as others stated but it’s early and I use the disc cover. Good weight for protection ratio.

Good lock for the money

I had my bike stolen so opted for a bike lock with some insurance. The lock feels well made, has a clever but fiddly bracket to attach to frame, and comes with a cable to secure your front/back wheels.

The 2 reasons I cannot give the product 5 stars is because it is not actually wide enough to lock my seatpost and backwheel at the same time (as Kryptonite specify on their website). The second is that there is no obviously convenient way of strapping the cable to the lock, when not in use. The cable does have a single velcro strap, but without a second, the coiled cable readily comes loose.

Overall, it is a good lock with insurance, although do note, you need proof of purchase or an appraisal certificate for the insurance!!

Really simple and easy to use. It feels really sturdy and although if someone was really determined they'd be able to bust it open, they wouldn't have enough time before someone would notice.

Couple of things to note:

1) Due to the D-lock being so small, it does make it difficult to lock on some bike racks especially if there are bike already there.

2) After my first use one of the rubber seals fell off exposing the internal lock to the elements but I've been using it for ages in rain/snow and cannot see that it has any effect.

Overall decent lock.

Great product, my bike feels safe when I lock it up. It's surprisingly heavy (but have secured it to my bike).
My only downside is that a) it didn't come with a bracket - but from other reviews, it doesn't sound like it was that great and I bought an alternative. b) it was scratched when it came suggesting it might have been used before

But other than that, really good product.

The lock is well made and sturdy, but the way the cable is secured to the lock is a little fiddly. A couple of times the loop has worked it’s way off the end of the lock while on the lock carrier.

This is a heavy and sturdy locking system. Only 4 stars as it is sometimes difficult to unlock - if this happens all you need to do is orient the lock so that the keyhole is facing directly upwards.
