When I set this on maximim brightness I was very dissapointed. The information was blurred and not sharp at all. Very overpriced for what it is. Sent mine right back!

Had one of these for a while now - havent been overly impressed...

Pros
- If you are into retro looking tech, the clock face does what it says on the tin!
- The very limited pool of apps function as described (Although I've never got the radio working!)
- API and Dev kits are available (Please can somone write more apps!)

Cons
- The device itself feels cheap and plastic, I was expecting it to feel more like a premium product considering the hefty price tag.
- Very few first party apps available - LameTric dont appear to be developing any new apps either
- The available apps are very limited in functionality and arent really fit for purpose (Reading an Email or news headline from the clock face is as awkward as it sounds!)

Overall
A cute novelty if you have deep pockets but certainly not worth the price considering the poor build quality, limited apps and functionality.

Das Produkt wirkt wie vom Flohmarkt. Die Plastikteile sind enorm schlecht verarbeitet, haben teilweise noch Pressränder und sind schlecht ineinander passend. Der Lichtsensor ist schief verklebt und steht einsetig mehr als einen Millimeter heraus (auf der symetrischen seite nicht!). Einfach schlecht und billig verarbeitet.
Diese Produkt ist dem Preis nicht angemessen und ich rate dringenst vom Kauf ab.

Die Funktionen sind schön. Es funktioniert auch alles aber für den Preis muss alles sitzem. Wer auf Optik und Ästhetik Wert legt ist hier definitiv falsch.

I’m in two minds about this product.

The pros
1. I like the idea of being able to have key information displayed whilst at my desk. It’s great to glance up and see today’s weather or how many followers our business social media accounts have.

2. The unit is well made too

The cons
1. It is frustrating you can have multiple social media accounts showing, for example 2 Instagram counts!

2. Occasionally the links break and the company do fix it but it can take a week or so. To be fair they do send out an email saying they are working on it.

3. The connectivity from phone to device to add apps is a bit of a faff to setup especially the initial time. It could be improved for sure.

4. The cost is fairly high for something that’s 80% polished. I’m happy to pay for premium when the product is premium. This sadly didn’t fully meet with my expectations.

Overall it will remain on my desk I just hope software improvements down the line make it in to something I hoped for.

Bought this on a whim but it just randomly stopped working. When I tried to access customer support which was extremely complex was essentially told to turn it on and off again. Ended up binning the thing. Thankfully there are more devices now which do more and are a way lot cheaper than this . Avoid

If you have several smart home gadgets this is a excellent piece of technology to keep track of all the notifications. As other reviewers have said it is a expensive gadget made of plastic and with a retro look, but If you can buy it while on offer well worth the spend. When I bought it I thought: A- Why did I spent so much on a desk clock and B- this is going to be one of those things that sounds good in paper but then disappoint once you start using them. Well... I was wrong, I do actually like it very much and don’t regret buying it! I use it every single day without even realising that I’m using it! It is so easy to look at it and get the information you need at glance (specially notifications!). I use mine to keep track of different smart devices around home. I enabled different apps and automatically change between them to display the following:

- Time and date (obviously!)
- Weather (you can customise what information you want the clock to display)
- Temperature and humidity at home (from Nest thermostat). Also notifies if the temperature is too high or too low
- name of the song and artist of the song currently playing in my Sonos system (Which automatically displays it as soon as a new track starts)
- Exchange Rate
- RSS News (which I’ve configured to notify and give me the 5 headlines very hour)
- Mirror the notifications on my phone (I really like this feature as I can see and read text or WhatsApp messages and email subject lines without having to pick up my phone)
- Notifies and shows who is calling (again, this is great so you don’t need to grab the phone to see who is calling)
- Notifies me when someone is at the front door (Ring Doorbell integration via IFTTT).
- Set date and time reminders (I.e.: Put the bins out Tuesday evening! - You can even choose different wheelie bin icons!)

I have the LaMetric time for over a year and only had a couple of issues with it so far. Both times an installed app was causing the device to freeze and just displaying a black screen. The technical support is great. Both times I had the issues I contacted support and sent them the logs.

The display is quite bright and you can enable auto brightness so it changes based on the light in the room. You can configure a ‘Do Not disturb’ (they call it screensaver) so the screen turns off (or displays a dimmed clock) during the specified time period. I enabled this at night to stop notifications coming through.

It has 3 large buttons at the top which they allow you to manually scroll between the enabled apps and make selections. The button on the right side turns off the device and on the left side there are two small buttons to increase or decrease the volume. If you are thinking to purchase this to listen to the music, don’t! You can play the radio or Spotify on it but the sound quality is terrible.

To summarise, if you are looking for a smart display to keep track of notifications and other gadgets around the house, go for it - you won’t regret it.

I now have 3 of these in total, 1 is the previous model which had a built in battery
All mine display the readings from my Netatmo weather station, share price and a few SmartThings notifications which are triggered using IFTTT.
I really find the information I choose them to display very useful.
Every time there’s a new firmware upgrade more features are added.
Yes they are very expensive for a clock but in all honesty worth every penny to me.

Ich habe sehr lange mit mir gehadert (über ein Jahr), ob ich mir das LaMetric holen soll. Schlussendlich habe ich es gemacht. Gefallen hat es mir schon immer, aber der Preis hat mich abgeschreckt.

Das Gerät steht nun unter dem TV und zeigt mir Zeit, Datum, Wetter, sowie neu einkommende Nachrichten, Anrufe und Emails an.
Es lassen sich viel mehr Dinge auf das Display bringen, u.a. auch durch eine schön integrierte Version von ITTT (if this, then that), aber für mich reicht dieser kleine Satz an Daten schon aus. Das Gerät ist sehr zuverlässig, hat mir noch keinen Stress gemacht und ist ein wirklich schönes Geschenk für den Geek und Nerd, der sonst schon alles hat.

There is simply no bluetooth option on the Lametric app. So you can't connect it to anything as a bluetooth speaker. You can select it as a bluetooth device from your phone or your laptop but it has no effect whatsoever. I just spent an hour trying to understand the basic instructions to set this up - it's like setting up a cheap chinese product that has instructions that don't explain anything helpful so it's mostly frustrating guess work, trial and error. It's crazy to call this a blue tooth speaker and then have no bluetooth options or ways to connect it as a speaker. I've spoken with lametric several times and they can't understand the problem and still refer to it as a bluetooth speaker. However bluetooth speakers play all sounds from a device. The only sounds this clock will play other than it's own, are STREAMING through apps such as spotify. IE only music through an app. You can't connect your computer to it or your phone thinking it will play what ever you play on your device. Hence, it is not using the bluetooth to play music and you don't need bluetooth for the steaming to work. It automatically turns the bluetooth OFF if you turn steaming on. Which is yet another crap problem. I'm keeping the clock as i enjoy the screen, the radio alarm, the count down to events, the news and things like that but it was NOT worth 200 it is worth more like 100.

When I first got my lametric time I was really hesitant about the price. a nice clock with some smart home capabilities was tempting but what eventually pushed me into the sale was that it's a one-off payment for a device that never gets touched or moved, and should last decades.

I figured, despite being £170 currently (thanks to brexit), after 10 years it works out about £17 a year.

Still pricey, for a clock, but I figured I'd include it into a lot of smart home routines and there was a bunch of lametric apps that would add functionality.

This week the pixels on my Lametric Time started dying. I looked to check the time, and instead of telling me it was 9pm, it told me it was 3pm. I was very confused, the timezone changes in in a week, but 3 hours difference doesn't make sense.. make a firmware update bug? (look at the google play store reviews, the firmware has become very buggy in the past year)
Then I got some smart home notifications and saw the text was garbled and it hit me, pixels are not turning on.

I tried the obvious, unplugging/reconnecting, updating firmware, rubbing where the pixels are missing. Nothing helped.

So I contacted support. First thing they asked for was my receipt.
As soon as I sent that they told me their warranty is 1 year and "To get the best experience using LaMetric Time you may consider buying a new LaMetric Time device."

Ouch.

So that works out £42.50 a year. If I knew that before I bought it there was no way I'd buy it.
I wasn't even offered a discount code outside the the standard 5% off newsletter subscription. (wow £8.50 off, remarkable!)

I'd say the real value of a Lametric Time is about £80 tops.

The apps available for it are pretty lackluster and mostly novelty, there's a few nice community made ones that work great for a year or so before they stop working and aren't updated again.
The only real benefit of having a Lametric Time is if you program things yourself to use the API, or if you managed to get some smart home functionality out of it by using an IFTTT account (which requires a monthly subscription fee for more than a few routines).

It's a fun idea, but the reality is at the price it is, you're better off just sending notifications to your phone and just buying a cheap desk clock.
