Lechuza bewateringssysteem

Dankzij het slimme LECHUZA-bewateringssysteem worden planten zelfverzorgers en dagelijks gieten of het zoeken naar een bloemrooster behoren tot het verleden. In de bodem van de plantenbakken bevindt zich het waterreservoir, dat afhankelijk van het potmodel tot 26 liter kan bevatten en waaruit de planten zich individueel naar het voorbeeld van de natuur van vocht voorzien. Via de uitdraaibare bodemproef kan overtollig water weglopen en er ontstaat geen waterophoping. Zo lukt plantenverzorging met minimale inspanning.

Geschikt voor binnen en buiten

Als de dagen korter worden en de temperaturen koeler worden, hoef je niet af te zien van de geliefde stijl. In de winter en de late herfst kun je de LECHUZA-plantenbakken ook binnen gebruiken om koude dagen met kleurrijke bloemenpracht tegen te gaan. Natuurlijk kun je ook de plantenbakken uit de Color-serie in de winter buiten gebruiken, omdat deze vorstbestendig zijn. Zo geniet je het hele jaar door van de aanblik van leuke planten

LECHUZA-PON

LECHUZA-PON is het ideale alternatief waar geen conventionele aarde als plantsubstraat moet worden afgezien. Door de samenstelling van hoogwaardige, minerale stenen die vrij zijn van verontreinigingen en schadelijke stoffen, is een gelijkmatige verdeling van voedingsstoffen in de wortelzone van de plantenbak mogelijk. Ook planten met kleine wortels worden prima van voedingsstoffen en water voorzien, omdat LECHUZA-PON een doorlopende capillaire activiteit tot aan het vat heeft. Het is geschikt voor alle planten (ook orchideeën en citrusplanten). Maar ook voor mensen met een allergie is de Lechuza PON een goed alternatief: Wortelschadelijke schimmels worden door het plantsubstraat geremd.

Video ad for “classico” version miss represents the product. It shows only “premium” option with all the accessories. “Classico” version does not have inner liner and you cannot remove it with the plant in it as shown on video. Video soundtrack keeps repeating many times name “Classico” and fails to point out that you are looking at “Premium Classico”.
As a result I bought basic version under impression that I am going to get everything I see in the ad.
It was a disappointment after opening the box.

Ok, so ive only had this product about a week so i cant say weather it works yet, because you have to wait 12 weeks to find out....(the roots have to grow into the substrate - the gravel like stuff they give you). So if you want to buy this to work immediately its not for you. Try the self watering ones with the string.

My first problem with it was that one of the attachments doesnt seem to fit properly and was wobbling around but thats not really a problem once its all assembled.
My second issue is that the colour is more off white or cream... All my plant pots are white and this one was advertised as being so.

I will edit my review in 11 weeks after my plant has hopefully grown its roots into the substrate...

Ok so.. Bit of a mishap with one of my fern chaps, because the pot is so heavy it bust a plant hanger and the poor fellow fell to the floor and out the pot.. Here i could see its root system still not developed anywhere near enough to go into the substrate (the gravel they give you) and that was a few months down the line.

My fern, having recovered the shock can now be seen relaxing in a normal pot. I will just have to get old dad to water my plants if i ever go away for a long period (holiday not prison... Hopefully)

If you go away alot to prison or holidays, id recomend trying the cheaper ones where its just a normal pot and then cotton string going into a reserve of water.

This pot now sits on the pile in my garden.

Note - the item is often delivered incomplete. You'll either get the pot but not the water measure and substrate or you'll get those but not the pot. I've ordered at least 6 of these and three times the items were sent incomplete.

Now that we have that grudge laid out. Here's the review when the item is actually complete.

This product is great for plants that require moist soil at all times. The build quality is brilliant and will probably last a while unless you plant a ZZ plant in it.

Bear in mind that the actual depth is at least 1 1/2 inch shorter than advertised as that space is for the water container.

No more dying plants! Carefree system.

A nice gloss soft red. The inner red ring of the planter is red as well, and functions as a handle to lift the inner black bucket out from the red outside. The planter is easy to assemble. I do recommend to order a separate bucket of Lechuza Gritty Mix. There is a little bit in the package. But only sufficient to cover the bottom of the planter.

The self-watering system means you need to give plants some time to grow roots into the water reservoir. This can take up to 6 to 8 weeks. Once you've managed, you won't have to worry about your plant anymore, and they will stay alive!!

My process is as follows. After receiving the planter, I go and look for the plants I want in the planter. Having received the planter, I now can assess the space available for the plants to go in them. Visit the garden center for what you like.

I have ordered additional gritty mix for the planter. What does this mean? The planter is provided with a gritty mix of ceramic pellets/stones making a drained bottom. I like to have the plants covered in the gritty mix, so I have ordered additional mix. This will cover the plants completely and makes a nice presentation.

Once you have made your choice of plants, bring them home and remove the plastic pot. I try to remove as much soil as I can to remain with almost roots only.

I pour the gritty mix into the bottom of the planter to create a 2/3 cm-1inch layer of drainage. At this point, you might want to ask someone to help you. Trying to hold your plant in the airy void in the planter, while adding gritty mix isn't a two-hand job.

With some help, you will manage to cover the roots with gritty mix and have your plant nicely settled in the new substrate.

At his point, you will put the inner pot back into the outer and will water the plant for the first time. This will be from above. So as you are used to water plants. You will have to do this for about 6-8 weeks. This will allow the roots to find their way to the water reservoir.

After the initial watering period of 6-8 weeks, you'll only water the plants by refilling the water reservoir in the bottom of the planter. You can do this through a dedicated watering access to the side of the inner planter. There is a reservoir level indicator showing the level. That will give you an indication of the water level, making it possible to fill it to the max for approx 6 weeks of carefree growing.

A bit of effort and dedication for 6-8 weeks, will leave you with plants staying alive and thriving.

At first this pot looked exactly what I needed to re pot a really well looked after large plant which needed more room to spread out. I was interested in the watering system etc as I thought "intelligent watering system" may cancel the need for constant daily vigilance.
Unfortunately, things are not as easy as they seem once you get down to the proper instructions. I won't bore you, but it involves watering as normal after re-potting your plant, then waiting about 12 weeks for the plant to "settle in", this means a diary entry to remind you. No using the spout yet, just water as normal. Then, maybe it'll be ok after 3 months to begin the inbuilt spout watering, BUT then it has to "dry" out for a period,so it's back to adiary. Honestly I wouldn't have bothered and certainly wouldn't have more than one pot on the go at the same time ...life's too short.
Nice colour though.
