The cable is 4mm, so will carry 37 AMPS safely all day, but nothing like the 600 AMPS the label says they can deal with. Before I chopped one open, I started a 1.6 petrol focus with a dead battery and that did the job without breaking a sweat. It only took one good stab with the key to start it though!
I am not knocking these leads as they are better than the booster cables I have seen from other vendors, but the picture says it all... Thick insulation, not a thick conductor.
The instructions do state that you should leave the cables connected for at least 3 minutes before you attempt to start the car with the discharged battery, so even they are suggesting the cables are booster cables. I hate to sound like these are not what I expected, but they definitely do the job I wanted the cable for and the croc clips are an added bonus :)
Just for the record, starter motors up to a 2 litre (4 piston engine) a 6mm cable minimum, then 10mm will cover up to a 2.5 diesel (6 piston) , 16mm will deal with 2.5 diesel with more than 6 pistons and for a V8 or above, go with the 25mm ... These are safe minimum sizes... if you go below these factors, then use the cables in a booster capacity, not cranking constantly... If you are boosting, then run the starter for no more than 5 seconds and then wait a minute before you try again :)
(If the cables are getting warm or hot when you are trying to start your engine, then try less often so that they are not carrying such a high current)

The connections were also quite hard to get onto the battery connection points because the jaws just don't open quite wide enough. Which probably didn't help matters.
I got a breakdown service out to help, and they got me started off one of those booster battery packs. I asked the guy about the cables and he just said they were probably s**t cables.
I'm going to try and see if I can return them, because I have no use for jump leads that can't jump even handle the current when just sharing charge, never mind trying to turn over the car....

Nothing flashy, but for the price they're great to throw in the boot. Don't bother looking at alternatives, buy these!

These measure at 3.6 meters (please see photos below) and have an excellent reach.
Ordered and arrived next day (via Amazon Prime) - came well packaged and to a high standard for the price; only gripe is that the two cables (red and black) are not tied \ stuck together in the middle; but some black gaffer tape with sort this out - and some people prefer them to be separate cables so really is a personal preference!
The grips themselves are functional - brightly coloured and hard plastic - will update further after multiple uses.
