I've been using the device as a standalone device for the present to record temp and humidity logs. I've downloaded the app and can transfer the log data from device to be displayed on the app. The transfer method for a standalone is Bluetooth (or NFC which I haven't tried) which means you have to move the phone close within 15 m of the device (closer for NFC).
The app can view the data by hour, day, week which is nice so spotting trends.
The temperature and humidity data is recorded 1 minute increments.
The data, once captured by the smartphone app can be exported to a .csv file which can be read a raw data or imported into most spreadsheet applications.
The description was careful to say that some of the more advance features e.g. home automation, was not possible without the purchase of an additional Smart-Bot Mini-Hub.
The Smart-Bot agenda is to encourage you into home automation by purchasing the Mini-Hub and other Smart-Bot devices. I'm interested in home automation however the range of devices are at present only available for the US. UK type 3-pin plug switchers for home automation are currently not available with no stated availability. As a result a lot of the exciting promises of upgrading at a later stage to home automation e.g. "switch the heater on when the temperature goes below 12C" are not realistic at present outside the US.
As a data logging device works it works well. If you live outside the US and see it a way of trying out home automation you may be disappointed.
