This is a quick instalove age-gap read with heaps of steam with some DD/LG play. Sebastian comes off as a jerk but turns sweet quickly for Chloe. When I initially started this book I thought I was reading a book in historical times. But basically it’s the ‘scarred hero’ (emotionally, not physically), ‘poor girl from the wrong side of the tracks’, instant chemistry that quickly becomes instalove.
Chloe was trying to raise her brother the best she could after her mother passed but constant nights with men pounding on her door and not being able to feed either of them means she’s ha enough and hence she decided the best thing was to leave her brother on the doorstep of the man who had saved her from falling over the cliff and showed her kindness when she was 13.
Sebastian who owns the big mansion on the hill… has turned bitter and jaded sees her leaving the child and makes a bargain thinking she wouldn't seriously do it. (& Not recognising her as the girl he saved.) When she agrees he is taken aback first that she accepted then to find out she's a virgin once they have sealed the deal… floors him. Now he is determined to keep her and the light she brings but while trying to get through her misconceptions he has to come to terms with the fact that he needs to let down his walls as well….
I categorised it as a single mum romance, but that’s not completely true. She’s the one taking care of her toddler age brother. So, yes she is a single mum since she’s taken responsibility of him, but she’s not referred to as mum per see.
I would’ve loved it even more if Sebastian had to chase her but Jessa has weaved in a taboo romance!
That aside there was a major whoops when Sebastian first met Curtis and referred to him as Chloe’s brother (before he was supposed to know that fact).
Both of those issues aside, the writing was hot as hell and I loved the characters! I really felt the emotion from the male lead and empathized with the horny 18 year old, lol.
I also could not get past the mistake at the start of the book where Sebastian mentioned to Chloe to bring her brother inside then the next page it reverted back to Sebastian thinking Curtis was Chloe's son. This mistake just bugged me the whole time I was reading this novella.
