Even more addicting.
Even more intrigue.
Even more mystery.
Even more secrets and betrayal.
Even more EVERYTHING.

The plot and the characters are so smartly developed and woven together here, it's mind blowing.

"I know exactly what it is to want to kill a man, and to wait."

This trilogy is a slow burn like no other. Slow burn aren't my favorite books to read because I want ALL the romance, I'm not even sure these can be classed as romance and yet I have never been addicted and so invested in a couple like I am with Laurent and Damen. There is so much hate and so much imperfections between the two but they are the most unforgettable characters I've ever read about. And there's still more to their story.
The sexual tension here is something else. I've never read anything like it. Those small moments. The looks with no words spoken. The near touches. The slight, small touches.
AND THENNNN!
Then, THAT first kiss and THAT first sex scene. That freaking sex scene. Everything. The emotions and each and every touch and word spoken. Holy f... Sh.... I am dead serious when I say no other sex scene will ever come close to that one. THE FEELS. Gah.

'He caught Laurent's wrist, felt the fine bones, and the pulse, before Laurent could rise from the bed. Damen said, "Kiss me."'

C.S. Pacat played with my emotions big time.
Trust absolutely No one.
She pulled me into this world, consumed me with her words, this story and the characters she created. Made me fall in love with many more than just the main characters. And she devastated me in many ways. She's created a villain I really didn't see coming. There was betrayal from places I did not expect at all.
She is a genius.
I ate up every single word, not wanting to miss a single thing.

I’m not going to lie, the first book was good but had a lot of problems so I was hesitant to continue with the series. I was hoping the second book would be better but I didn’t have the slightest idea what I was in for. I am totally shook by how brilliant this was! All I can comprehend right now is that this was so fantastic and I am so glad that I decided to read this book! The author took a step up in a thousand different ways. The writing was better, the character development was off the charts and so many problems the first book had were resolved in ways I couldn’t have imagined. Also, a significant relationship between a certain too characters that I was close to hating in the first book quickly became one of my favourite slow burn romances ever. The author of this series has managed to take a revolutionary turn and create something legendary. I loved it!

Best trilogy I've ever read - do yourself a favour and get all three of them!

I don't even know where to start this review so bear with me... first of all, the summary doesn’t do the story justice at all, and it wasn’t what caught my interest at first. I've seen so many people all over the internet talking about this amazing, must read trilogy but when I first looked it up I didn't really see the appeal - boy was I wrong!

The main protagonists, Damen and Laurent, will make you want to cry parental tears because they are your children and you want to protect them at all cost. Their characters are incredibly well written and you will fall in love with them, trust me on that. Damen is this tall, dark and handsome warrior prince on the outside but deep down he's an actual cinnamon roll, too pure for this world and you just want to smush his cheeks, wrap him in a blanket and make him a hot chocolate. I'm not exaggerating. And then there's Laurent. Oh dear, how do I even begin to describe Laurent. He's a character you will not start liking from the get go. You probably want him to just s t o p. But Jesus Christ on a cracker the character development he goes through in the books are so amazing. By mid book two you will fall in love with him as Damen is falling in love with him. My feelings for Laurent can be described with this one line ‘I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once.’ You will be slapped and attacked by so many emotions about this Cast Iron Prince (actual nickname from the book), and you will Suffer when he Suffers.

The antagonist will make you want to gouge your eyes out everytime he comes into the story and g o d please just send him to the deepest corners of hell and incinerate his soul.

Also, the world building is absolutely fascinating and the plot makes you want to claw at your own face. Book one might be difficult to go through, due to the master/slave dynamic that is not for everyone and abuse in many different forms (physical, sexual and they are written explicitly or sometimes just vaguely inferred). Please heed the warnings. But, it does such a good job setting up the world, characters, and plot base.

Book two is when you realise the pain you go through in book one is freakin worth it, because character development! Plot! Rooftop chases! Tension! Sexual tension! HAVE I MENTIONED CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT?

BOOK THREE IS JUST A COMPILATION OF ME SCREAMING FROM BEGINNING TO END.

THE BOOKS ARE JUST THAT GOOD AND IT’S WORTH THE MONEY YOU SPEND BUYING THEM, THE TIME YOU READ THEM, AND THE PAIN YOU SUFFER.

In conclusion, please read Captive Prince trilogy. I haven’t been so in love with original fiction in such a long time, and I love these books so m u c h.

It is not exaggerating to claim that Captive Prince is the best in its genre.

Intriguing plot set in the fictional world very similar to Game Of Thrones only without magic, walking dead and dragons (a big plus in my opinion). Extremely intelligent writing, great care for details and character development: Laurent and Damen's relationship is sizzling!

Finally a book that explores master/slave theme satisfactory, avoiding usual stereotypes and self -serving pornography.

I am in love with this author! And with Damen and Laurent! Perfect part two after a blisteringly good book 1. Completely magical and whirl you away romantic. One of the best sex scenes I have ever read. The chapter in the Inn where Laurent was in disguise was just genius. All the political intrigue makes game of thrones seem tame. Have read upteen times and may be obsessed by the story. Why this isnt a film yet beats me. Just brilliant.

OK! didnt think volume 1 could be bettered but i've been proven wrong. for one, its brilliantly written with detailed descriptions u can almost visualise every scene live. the armies and the company, costumes, the landscapes, the fights, the interactions, the gorgeous Akielion prince/slave whos fighting skills are bar none and oh not forgetting a certain cute 20yr old blonde blue-eyed veretian prince who has the filthest mouth anyone has ever heard. YEP! the type of book u read over and over and over again. this is an amazing progressive love story and when it finally happens....it is the cutest thing ever. u have to read it to appreciate it. and as it is a trilogy, am waiting for 3 in absolute pain/withdrawal. cannot wait! because there is going to be a few revelations.....ohhhh boy

What a stunning book. I made the mistake of starting this at 10pm...needless to say I was still reading at 2am, completely enraptured (and maybe slightly sobbing into my pillow). The first book feels more or less like a prologue in some ways compared with this one - the real action, the real story starts here, with the slow unpicking of Laurent's deliciously complex character combined with Damen's own journey to gain his trust, which culminates in one of the most satisfying and beautiful (and, yes, tearjerking-at-2am) endings I've ever read, while not skimping on the intrigue to set up book 3.

There's really not much else for me to say without yelling incoherently about the final segment...all I can confidently say is that it's worth all the dry military/tactical discussions that for a while did threaten to lose my interest in the beginning. What a glorious payoff. And I'll be counting down until the third is released with baited breath!

I absolutely loved this installment, you could feel the tension rising between damon and Laurent, and all came crashing at the end.

The end, gave me chills. I have so much anticipation for the next installment. 10 out of 10. Would definitely recommend.

Why did it take me so long to find these books! Parts one and two are rich, plot driven novels with adept multi faceted characterisations and sparkling descriptive passages.You do need to read the books in order they are not stand alone books. The relationship between the two main protagonists has as many twists and turns as the plotting and political intrigue. There is no explicit sex but the chemistry between Damon and Laurent is sizzling but never a sure thing. Found out today there is a third book and I'm a happy bunny I just cannot wait for it's release.

Following such an engrossing part 1 to this trilogy, the second installment absolutely did not disappoint. What's so rare about this story is that it is totally unpredictable, not in a twisty-turny way, but just that as the plot is developing there are so many ways it can all play out you are well and truly left hanging with bated breath until part 3 comes out.

A definite re-read book, one that makes you wish there was a 5-star-plus rating. One of the best books I've read.
