This is a nice set of wire brush tools.

The wrought iron garden gate was in need of some TLC. The paint was breaking away and small pockets of rust here and there. There’s no point in just painting over the top even though it’s very tempting.

I could have just gone with a wire brush and some sandpaper but that sounded like a lot of hard work. I have a good electric drill, so I went for these wire brush drill accessories at just under a tenner.

When they arrived, I was impressed at their quality. However, a word of warning, these things are really sharp and I would strongly suggest wearing gloves when handling them. When using them, goggles and mask is well advised too. Bits will fly off and dust will be generated, so think safety first!

The job I had in hand was easily accomplished with tis set. I particularly like the spiral one as it was easy to get into the curves of the gate and the tight corners.

Overall, this is a nice set of wire brush tools, and they’re not expensive.

I wanted to strip and repaint a 6 foot passageway gate. I have never used anything like these wire brush attachments before. I am really pleased that I chose this variety pack, as it gave me opportunity to try different attachments, and I actually used most of them.

One attachment was of different construction to the rest: the bristles were held within a double helix of thick wire, and when I used it, it quickly all fell apart. The other attachments were quite robust and are definitely fit for re-use if I have another job.

I wore mask, goggles, hat, gloves; and I needed them, as dust and loose paint was flying everywhere. In retrospect it is obvious, but I failed to anticipate that the drill kicks about whilst in use - it is a challenge to hold it steady and strip the paintwork as required; but it makes it all the more important to be properly dressed for safety.

Bought these expecting them to be a bit sturdier than the £2.99 ones, but a bit disappointed.
On first use the needles started to spread out, so don't expect to get many uses out of them.
It's just as well that there are 3 of them.
Wanted to clean up an engine casing, but they didn't work very well on the fins or other parts.

The supposed handy hole to hang them up with is dependant on how far away from the wall it is.
You can't hang them on a screw or a short nail.

Didn't find them great and ended up using other tools to do the job.
Don't think they are worth the extra money, will be looking for other alternatives.

One night. One job. These obviously weren’t up to the job. The gold colour disappeared within the first few seconds. It went downhill from there on. I was de-rusting a coil spring which given it’s design needs the different types of wire wheel in this kit. The cup was the first to go before I’d even got to the middle of the spring. The next to go was the spiral, followed by the wheels. Interestingly some of the wires fly off, but it’s not a problem if you’re wearing safety specs.
This in my opinion isn’t value for money, as you’ll be binning them after the second (or perhaps first) use.

Very good for getting into edges on staircase thanks to the narrowness of the brushes but not so good for getting into corners due to the spur on the tip but the metal could easily but sawn back in an angle to get in closer. I’ve bought many wire brushes over the years to use with paint stripper, there’s something about these that makes them stand out from the rest.

Have only used the larger of the circular wheels, however it has proved to be quite sturdy and resilient to some heavy rust and paint removal from a garden log burner to prep for repainting. Haven't suffered with losing any wire from the head that i can tell. If the rest of the kit proves to be as good then I couldn't be happier.

Saw these for £1 each in a local hardware shop... so I definitely got overcharged!

They don’t work that well, to be fair... I did a gate yesterday, and ended up using a chisel and a real wire brush in the end, these were pretty useless...

Good quality, heavy duty wire brushes. I used these to strip rust and flaking paint from metal railings and they performed exceptionally well, leaving a perfect finish on the metal for painting. I have no hesitation in recommending these for DIY'ers and trades people alike.

Good set of brushes, but not really man enough to complete the task in hand. I ordered them to remove the rust on my restoration bbq, they did the job, but fell apart pretty quickly.

These are great brushes, having the choice of size and shape is useful too especially the long bottle brush which gets in those difficult holes and cleans them beautifully........hubs is happy well worth having in his tool box.
