Vou estar mentindo se disser que não fiquei com um sorrisinho bobo no rosto durante toda a leitura.
É um clichê? Óbvio
Mas você não consegue parar de rir das ideias bobas mas ao mesmo tempo eficazes que esses amigos/ brutamontes/ gostosos/ jogadores profissionais tem de atitudes românticas que com certeza vão conquistar a nossa mocinha.
Se prepara que lá vai um resumo da história
Bree é melhor amg de Nathan desde a escola e eles são apaixonados um pelo outro mas morrem de medo de falar algo, não serem correspondidos e a amizade acabar e por isso guardam esses sentimentos pra si mesmos até que após uma noite de bebedeira a nossa Bree acaba soltando a língua pra uma desconhecida e dá a entender que Nathan é apaixonado por ela. O grande problema? Essa desconhecida é ninguém menos que uma jornalista e no dia seguinte eles são a sensação da internet e disso tudo surge uma proposta irrecusável que envolve contrato de namoro falso.
No meio de toda essa confusão Nathan vê sua grande chance de sair da friendzone e mudar o jogo a seu favor e o melhor, sem correr o risco de perder a amizade, afinal todos os toques serão pura encenação pra mídia, né !?
Daí surge a grande idéia dos 5 jogadores de futebol patetas de escreverem uma espécie de livro de táticas de conquistas. Posso afirmar que agora com certeza sei porque todos estão solteiros.

I hate DNFfing. Really, I do. But this was awful. It’s the type of book you start to hate at 10% but keep on going to try and give it a shot. But Bree made me want to die from embarrassment and cringe and Nathan was annoying as hell. Not even the good annoying - just the straight up ‘give it a break’ annoying. I disliked the constant use of capital letters and exclamation marks, especially in Bree’s internal dialogue. I would not recommend.

I hadn't read anything by this author before, I decided I'd give her book a go. The plot itself is nothing new, but you can read loads of similar books and still find nothing but duds. This isn't one of them. The writing flows really well and at the right pace all the way through. The main characters are likable and fun and the author doesn't get you too bogged down in the backstory - there's just enough.
As someone who has suffered from panic attacks, I tend to cringe when I can tell it's where a character is heading as some authors get it totally wrong. This is actually done well here, and in particular, I like the fact that the guilt element (feeling like you haven't the 'right' to feel the way you do)was done with understanding.
Its not a ground-breaking book, and if you like sex scenes, it's not the one for you. However, if you want a light, fun, warm read, then give it a go. I'll be trying the author again I think.

Guyssss, this book was so cute I couldn't cope!
I adored these two characters. Bree was so cute, lovely, unique and hilarious. I loved her description, it was nice having a main character who wasn't the standard tall, slim brunette. Nathan was loveable, charming, and the perfect best friend. I was rooting for these two the whole way. The writing was one of my favourites - I really enjoyed the body positvity, women empowerment theme running through this book and I think the author did a really good job of portraying anxiety in an honest way.

I did think the miscommunication between them was sooo frustrating though, this was a total slow burner. Although I really enjoyed the soft, sweet moments, I was waiting for the more intense steamy scenes and I never got them! I was disappointed with the ending as I thought it was super rushed after waiting such a long time for the outcome we wanted. But, overall, I definintely recommend and thoroughly enjoyed.

This is my favourite romance book ever. It has me giggling like a school girl. I absolutely love Bree and Nathan's friendship. The fact that neither of them wanted to cross the line despite their feelings had me on my toes because of the way they were secretly pining for each other.

Nathan has set the standard. The love he shows Bree is unbeatable, it's the little things she never even knew about that sent me through the roof. Bree was super sweet and funny, she deliberately acted immature sometimes but it wasn't in an irritating way imo.

A perfect romcom that is a slow burn + sports romance. Best friends to lovers the right way.

One of my favourite romantic storylines are those with friends falling in love, and this didn’t disappoint.

Nathan and Bree Cheese (as he lovingly calls her), are best friends in love with each other for years, but they’re afraid to act on their feelings, because they don’t want to lose each other and what they already have.

But, what if they could have more? When a chance comes up to try and test some new waters around their relationship, they jump on it slowly.

This is a romantic comedy. I love the comedic elements, the friendship and the love. I also really liked how the story touches some anxiety and mental issues. I would like to expand on it more, but it is a romantic comedy and a light read, so it is understandable to not to.

On the whole, I really enjoyed the love story. I would definitely recommend this.

There’s always a BUT.

The reason I gave it a 4/5 is because, at times, Bree was so bloody annoyingly dense or irritating with her obliviousness. It was endearing at first, but got old quick.

Other than that, a really lovely little story.

What a beautiful read this was. I loved Bree and Nathan's back and forth, their friendship was inspiring, with secret feelings brewing on both sides they had to become a fake couple for a contract after an embarrassing drunk video gets released. Fake relationship with 2 people who already have secret feelings for each other.. I think you know what happens. Still a great read!

Two of my fav tropes (fake dating/friends to lovers). I really enjoyed the characters and their chemistry. However, overall it was way too tame for my preferences (slow burn and then finally when they do hook up …fade to black) but I think it was still a lovely, romantic, very funny & enjoyable read.

Definitely a feel good book with lots of little chuckles. Bree’s effervescent character spills out of the pages in spoonfuls and the reader is there with them all the way. Wonderfully written.
